Barby Marina

Architect: Kirkland Fraser Moor
Location: Rugby, UK
Completion: 2017

A brand new marina in central England, built partly on a regenerated landfill, including canal boat moorings, restaurants, interconnected pools, workshops, piazza, etc.

The new bridges have been designed to replicate the style of the historic iron canal bridges that are features of the waterways, which feed into the new marina. This traditional aesthetic mixed with the more modern architecture of the buildings reflects the mix of new and old waterways.

The site layout has been designed to minimise environmental impact and the design for each of the buildings has followed low carbon and low energy principles.
